Sandy's Bio
Originally from Pouce Coupe, BC, Sandy Jenkins graduated from Kelvin High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He received a BSc in Geophysics from the University of Manitoba in 1982, and was recruited to be a geophysicist by Hudson's Bay Oil & Gas in Calgary. Shortly thereafter, HBOG was taken over by Dome Petroleum, headed by the irrepressible Jack Gallagher, and Sandy worked there until 1985.
After touring Europe and then Mexico for the 1986 World Cup of Soccer, Sandy began postgraduate work at McGill University in Montreal. In 1989, he returned to Calgary and worked for EXSSEL in seismic processing, and then to GEO2 Consulting and Goodwell Petroleum before starting his own consulting firm in 2000, Pouce Coupe Projects Inc.
Sandy is married and has two young kids. He lives in an old house in Hillhurst and keeps as active as his schedule allows. He has canvassed for the Heart & Stroke Fund, and coaches a U8 soccer team. He has patrolled the blueline for the Sunstone Bulls rec hockey team since 1983 and shows no sign of letting up. He also enjoys golf, tennis, curling and snowboarding.
In 1988, he wrote "Yellow Sunday - Making and Breaking the Rules in the NHL", a book about the notorious NHL referee's strike during the '88 playoffs. |
